Our excellent
reputation is built on providing a unique and
magnificent experience. The atmosphere in the
Kirk is created by the intimate setting, where
everyone is close to the music and each
concert is a warm and lively social occasion
where you are always assured of a friendly
welcome.
You are invited
to enjoy another of Torphichen's treasures
during the interval when drinks are served
in the historic Torphichen Preceptory which
dates back to the 12th century.

We are very excited about attracting Rachel
Hair to the June Summer Nights. Rachel has
developed her own style of playing traditional
music on the harp, highly influenced from her
time studying alongside folk, jazz, classical,
funk, rock and pop musicians, being brought up
in the Scottish Highlands and her own Irish

Phil
Alexander - The Tangos of Astor Piazzolla |
|
 |
Exciting, unpredictable, passionate and
beautiful - Astor Piazzolla's music
revolutionised the idea of tango, adding new
layers of drive and harmonic sophistication
without sacrificing any of the traditional
grit and style. Phil Alexander (Salsa
Celtica, Moishe's Bagel, Mr McFall's
Chamber) presents his own solo piano
arrangements of these works, combining
elements of tango, jazz and modern classical
music to create an evocative and dynamic
programme. Stylish, heartfelt and joyous
music played with wit, passion and flair.

Brian
Kellock - TBC |
|
 |
After playing to a delighted Torphichen
audience last year, we're excited that Brian
is returning in 2008. Brian Kellock is one of Scotland's world class
performers, who is recognised as a stellar
piano talent across the world by musicians
such as James Morrison and Michael Moore.
Equally at home with mainstream and
contemporary jazz styles, Brian plays in the
Oscar Peterson/ Monty Alexander genre that is
closest to his heart. |
